About Kaya George:
Leicester born Kaya George got a taste for directing at an early age, creating several short musical films at school and college and then going on to study film production at University in London. Whilst still at University Kaya started running for a well known production company and from there rapidly established herself as an art director, working on music promos for artists such as Lemar, N-Dubz, Skunk Anansi and Dizzee Rascal, to name just a few. It was during this time that Kaya really learnt about how videos were professionally produced, getting the opportunity to try her hand at numerous other roles such as assistant director, camera operative and editor. As a result of this experience Kaya is able to endow her natural creativity with a solid technical grounding.
One day during her time as a production intern, Kaya heard that a RED camera and a set of lights were being left at the office unused for the weekend. Grabbing this opportunity by the cojones, she amassed a full crew, a client and a video idea and in less than 24hrs was directing her first professional music video. Since then Kaya has directed a varied body of work, from music promos to commercials, and is currently working on her first narrative short.
Constantly striving to expand her repertoire, Kaya injects her creative insight into each piece of work she undertakes. One of the things that stands out about the way Kaya works is her undeniable passion for what she does and her ability to squeeze high production values out of even the most limited of budgets.
